In using a colon to introduce a quotation, be sure the clause before the colon is a complete sentence (can stand alone). Which sentence below uses a colon correctly? A. American industrialist Henry Ford was known for his insight: "Don't find fault, find a remedy." B. Henry Ford was known to have said: "A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business." C. Ford: "Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success."

dcli whatchu think

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well, before a quote there has to be a comma. So B is out. C is a run-on sentence as the noun precedes the quote. As for A, that is correct as the colons emphasize the subject matter. @Deadly_Roses next time, please give an explanation to support your answer. Just following the CoC here. Thanks! :P XD

Again, it's asking for the subject preceding a quote. B is incorrect because the present tense verb makes using a comma needed, and C are incorrect as the noun is the speaker of the quote. It is A because the colon is adding emphasis.
