Why do phospholipids form a bilayer in water?
Here's an answer I found by looking on the internet: "See phospholipid is composed of a hydrophilic (water loving) phosphate head and 2 tails of hydrophobic (water hating) fatty acids. when grouped together, the fatty acid tails tend to line themselves up facing each other, away from the water. This makes sure that the phosphate heads ALWAYS face the water surrounding as they are hydrophilic." Hope that clears that up for you! Also, welcome to OpenStudy! I know you're new here but I just want to say that this isn't the place to ask science questions. There are different categories to ask questions in, like Science, Math, History, etc. We're in the OpenStudy feedback section, where people just talk about how the program works and other OpenStudy-related announcements. Next time, post your science question in the science category. :)
