Can you explain to me what the difference is between literal language and figurative language?

OpenStudy (ddos_dragon):

Literal language means exactly what it says, while figurative language uses similes, metaphors, hyperbole, and personification to describe something often through comparison with something different.

OpenStudy (ddos_dragon):

Literal: The floor is red

OpenStudy (ddos_dragon):

Figurative: The floor looks like crimson blood.

ohhhh i see . Thank you!
