Solve the inequality. q+12-2(q-22)>0 I have a tough time figuring these out, so if you can help me understand I will medal and fan! TIA! (last one)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Do not post problems with no work shown. You MUST have SOMETHING to show us. Get 'q' by itself. What's attached to 'q'? How do you get it off?

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

q+12-2(q-22)>0 Well I won't solve the entire thing... But I will help make it look easier to solve, I guess, the way I would do it. Then, post some rules about inequalities to help you get the right answer. I would first right 1q+12-2(q-22)>0 Because it is nice to have that '1' in front of that leading coefficient of 'q', so it doesn't look so isolated and scary. Then, let's apply that '2' to the function of (q-22) So we will have 1q+12-2q+22>0 If you want, turn that inequality sign into an '=' if it makes it easier on you. HOWEVER; IF AND ONLY IF *****you DIVIDE or MULTIPLY by a NEGATIVE NUMBER you MUST ALWAYS FLIP THE INEQUALITY SIGN THE OPPOSITE WAY***** If you have -2x>10 It will then be x<-5. IT IS A RULE THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED, DO NOT FORGET IT. I am sure you can solve this equation from here. Best of luck, cheers!

@Maddy1251 Thank You so much! This helped me out and I found the right answer :)

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

@IHelpYouLearn Wonderful!! I am so glad! :D

OpenStudy (ihelpyoulearn):

:D

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Okay, now you show us one. So far, everyone else is doing the actual work.
