imqwerty (imqwerty):

2(4.1+10.5) 29.2

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

We shouldn't give direct answers.. The entire point of this problem, is realizing what the '2' is doing to the numbers within the parenthesis, separate or as a whole..

imqwerty (imqwerty):

:) i ws just guessing

OpenStudy (nethercreep333):

ok can u provide an explantion plz? thanks

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

In this case it's kinda like 2a+2b -----> 2(a+b)

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

@imqwerty you have excellent math skills no doubt, they just like you to work problems out . :D

OpenStudy (nethercreep333):

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thanks

imqwerty (imqwerty):

ok we factor out 2 and then 4.1 and 10.5 are left inside the bracket then we operate the bracket and add 4.1 with 10.5 then we multiply the sum with 2 :)

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Mhm, notice how 2 x 4.1 + 2 x 10.5 ----> 2(4.1+10.5)

OpenStudy (nethercreep333):

thanks @imqwerty and @Maddy1251

imqwerty (imqwerty):

np (;

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

It's factoring, something you will learn once you get into higher math levels. Factoring is a very common tool we use. This is a way to get the brain used to it, I suppose, before actually implying the theory upon yourself. Work with the numbers, answers in math come easy. :)

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Btw, @imqwerty I loooove your profile picture, it amuses me a lot. Not sure why.. :P

imqwerty (imqwerty):

(; ik also love it
