I understand a little bit on how to do this, I just need help. I'm pretty sure it's a... But I don't know. Help? 81+18y+y^2 100-20y+y^2 144+24y+y^2 121+11y+y^2 Which expression is NOT a perfect square trinomial?

OpenStudy (hungergames13):

it should be 121+11y+y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, how did you come up with this reasoning? @hungergames13

OpenStudy (hungergames13):

because (a+b)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2

OpenStudy (hungergames13):

It would be a perfect square trinomial if it was 121 + 22y + y²

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it because you can't factor 121 and 11?

OpenStudy (hungergames13):

I don't know thats just the answer that I belive is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, last question, can you use one of the perfect square trinomials and show me how to factor it so I can figure out the next one on my own?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hungergames13

OpenStudy (hungergames13):

ok

OpenStudy (hungergames13):

so like an example to show you how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (hungergames13):

this web site helped me out a lot let me share it with you http://www.basic-mathematics.com/factoring-perfect-square-trinomials.html
