OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyone really good with geometry who can explain something to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (wwb00):

You should multiply each coordinate value by 2/5 to get the coordinates of the new image.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how is it eaxactly? like can you show me the steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like do i multiply it with the L coordinate pair? and is it cross multiplication?

OpenStudy (gabebae):

FLVS student taking geometry? I'm taking geometry too and i'm in FLVS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same i'm reviewing for a DBA

OpenStudy (gabebae):

Module 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct dilations

OpenStudy (gabebae):

I'm an honors student maybe I could help I'm on module 7 right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the lesson is a bit complicated when they get to the graphing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really? 0.0

OpenStudy (gabebae):

What assignment is this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4.01

OpenStudy (gabebae):

What do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wanna review what exactly is it that you do to find the l' of l on a graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like is it a formula or?

OpenStudy (gabebae):

Hold on let me open it up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :)

OpenStudy (gabebae):

What's the question?

OpenStudy (wwb00):

Say the coords of one point is (-2,4) multiply both terms by 2/5. (-2*2/5,4*2/5) simplifies to (-4/5, 8/5)

OpenStudy (wwb00):

do this for all of the points in the figure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/5 is the scale factor right?

OpenStudy (wwb00):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i multiply the original coordinates with the scale factor and that gives me the prime coordinates?

OpenStudy (wwb00):

yes

OpenStudy (wwb00):

It works with negative scale factors aswell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me practice this and you guys tell me if im ok or not :3

OpenStudy (wwb00):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1447178660007:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

((SORRY IT TOOK A WHILE THE SITE WAS LAGGING :P))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

((it better not kick me out again sorry for the wait)) ok lets say point A= (5,2) point B = (3,6) and point C= (2,5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and lets say the scale factor is 3/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I multiply like th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets say the question is : find the prime of point A. so A= (5,2) is multiplied to the scale factor 3/5 I do that like this? : 5/1 * 3/5 = 3 and I also multiply it by the y-value as well? like this? : 2/1 * 3/5= 6/5 what do I do with 3 and 6/5 ? I think i'm doing it wrong
