I would have personally selected "slower" due to the common myth/saying of "No Pain, No Gain"
but in this saying, they are referring to the burn from muscles
not necessarily the pain from like a pulled muscle
so in the latter case (pain from pulled muscle) - you should stop immediately
but hopefully this clears up why the "slower" option is not entirely wrong
