HELP PLEASE :/ A transformation of a figure by a dilation with a scale factor of –2 has which characteristic? Select one: a. Symmetry across a line of reflection. b. Congruent to the original figure. c. Twice as large in every dimension, and on the opposite side of the center of dilation. d. Side lengths that are 2 less than the original figure.

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

I honestly have no idea but I'd probably go with B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive been stuck on this one for awhile

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

i see that... i tried searching it and found that u asked it on peeranswer also XD lol

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Please show YOUR work on ALL problems submitted. No one wants to do your homework for you. A Scale factors doesn't have a line of reflection. B Since the Scale Factor is neither +1 or -1, it is unlikely there will be congruence. C Hmm... D "2 less"? I don't even understand that. What if the side length was only 1.5?! Next time, give YOUR thoughts and show YOUR work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah lol no one can help me understand this one

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

wait its not B

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

or C

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Read my four responses. Consider the merits of each. Slowly, carefully. Think them through.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

* Scale Factors don't have a Line of Reflection.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say C

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

Since a dilation stretches or shrinks the original figure and the scale factor is -2 the side lengths would be 2 less than the original figure

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Why do you say "C"? Must learn to communicate - like someone just did!

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

Yay im smart :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say C

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

its D though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know I got lost after so long

OpenStudy (yaya090600):

lol i dont blame you

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

It's not D, but I have no problem believing your electronic answer key thinks it's D. Sometimes they are just wrong. If you pick C and get it wrong, please complain to your teacher or grader.
