Why is Catherine the Great (Russia) considered an Absolute Monarch? easiest explanation please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A little background: She was a queen who was brought upon the throne by the death of the current king. She was a Russian queen and ruled with great leadership, in my opinion. She ruled during the Enlightenment period and actually asked a French philosopher to help her rule with his ideas, she did not agree and thought if she actually implemented them it would turn her kingdom upside down. She was an absolute monarch because she was the one and only person to give orders, no one else could make the final descisions

Thanks So Much! Can you help me on king Charles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can try :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what made him a Constitutional Monarch

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I also have to compare them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Constitutional monarchy is a form of government in which a king or queen acts as Head of State. The ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament, not with the Monarch.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So King Charles had an elected parliament and considered himself to be a constitutional man.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The best way to compare them is by the definition of their leadership. Catherine was the only ruler to were Charles was not.

This will help me pass my test!! Thanks so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gve me some background on him :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Charles I was born in Fife on 19 November 1600, the second son of James VI of Scotland and Anne of Denmark. He became heir to the throne on the death of his brother, Prince Henry, in 1612. He succeeded, as the second Stuart King of England, in 1625

Charles was reserved (he had a residual stammer), self-righteous and had a high concept of royal authority, believing in the divine right of kings. He was a good linguist and a sensitive man of refined tastes.
