This is getting frustrating, can someone please help me? I'll fan and give a medal. Select the equation of a line that is perpendicular to the line on the graph and passes through the point (3, 2) https://lss.brainhoney.com/Resource/28378267,0/Assets/73243_53bee295/03_07_13.jpg

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What is the slope of that given line (in the graph) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me find it

OpenStudy (triciaal):

the slope of the line is the change in y over the corresponding change in x sometimes this is referred to as the rise/run find 2 points on the given graph what is the slope?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

when lines are perpendicular the product of the slopes is -1. if one slope is m then the other slope is -1/m

OpenStudy (triciaal):

now to find the equation of the line at a point use the slope intercept form y = m x + b given (3, 2 ) and m (from above) we can calculate b then write the equation for any (x,y)
