OpenStudy (yoongilife):

I am willing to do the work, I want to understand. I will post possible answer choices once the thread becomes open. Which figure is convex?

OpenStudy (yoongilife):

A convex polygon is defined as a polygon with all its interior angles less than 180°. This means that all the vertices of the polygon will point outwards, away from the interior of the shape. That being said, my answer selection is figure A. If I am incorrect, please explain. I'm here to learn!

There are 2 types of polygons: convex polygons concave polygons

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if it is possible to plot 2 points in a polygon, and the line connecting these two points goes OUTSIDE the polygon, then this polygon is concave. If a polygon is concave, then it is not convex

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

here's an example of a concave polygon |dw:1447818336575:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

here are 2 points IN the polygon |dw:1447818351161:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but the line connecting the two points goes OUTSIDE of the polygon |dw:1447818377192:dw|
