OpenStudy (gokuporter):

Given the inequality |6-3w|<15 Write the inequality as two separate inequalities without absolute value.

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

(6-3w)<15 and (6-3w)<-15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're very close. :D The first inequality,6-3w<15, is correct. The other one would have the inequality sign pointing to the other direction (left instead of right). 6-3w>-15

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

how do you solve them i forgot how to..

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

oh thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help you with that. :) You will want to solve them for x. Let's start with the first one, (6-3w)<15. Firs, you will want to subtract 6 from both sides. After doing so, the inequality looks like this: -3w<9 To solve for w, you simply divided by -3 to get the answer. Remember, however, that the inequality sign switches directions when you divide by a negative number. So, the answer to the 1st inequality is: w>-3 (meaning that w is bigger than -3)

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

thank you! i understand it now

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

i can do the other one on my own thanks

Are you sure? I typed the whole process for you, lol. Well, if you know how to do it, go for it! If you need more help just let me know or tag me. ^_^
