OpenStudy (jaycruz):

How do writers use direct characterization in a story?

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

Direct characterization is how an author tells his or her reader about a character. Direct characterization occurs when the author specifically reveals traits about the character in a direct, straightforward manner. Direct characterization is also important in showing the character's motivation

OpenStudy (parker.goodbar):

this is for math and the answer is they make direct statements about a character's personality

OpenStudy (parker.goodbar):

you beat me how dare you GRRRRR!!

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

:/

OpenStudy (cresciez):

This isn't for math. The question elaborates direct characterization in a story, not a math equation.

OpenStudy (parker.goodbar):

yes this section is for math

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

@Cresciez and @parker.goodbar I don't know if you guys realize, but there's like 3 times more people actually ACTIVE in math than English. So I think it is fair enough to come here to seek help.

OpenStudy (cresciez):

Mhm, I know that lol

OpenStudy (parker.goodbar):

well yeah i think its fine i just was letting jay know

Alright, so basically to simplify this: direct characterization is a very direct way to explain the personality and demeanor of a character. So say we introduce Thomas to a story - let's say he has a good attitude and likes bikes. That's direct characterization. c:
