During World War I, the Congress passed the Sedition Act in 1918. Why did many Americans consider this Act to be a violation of civil rights?

OpenStudy (kat_s123):

Well, the sedition act kind of was an arm of the espionage act. Which was about slander and how it was punishable. People were not happy because they felt that their freedom of speech was being taken from them, because they were not allowed to speak negatively about the gov and the war.
