A community group sells 2,000 tickets for its raffle. The grand prize is a car. Neil and his 9 friends buy 10 tickets each. When the winning ticket number is announced, it is found to belong to Neil's group. Given this information, what is the probability that the ticket belongs to Neil?
@amistre64
your thoughts?
you need to find P(Neil | Neil's group)
since you're given that the ticket belongs to Neil's group, u can forget about everything else. Look at Neil's group only
well they buy a total of 100 tickets so 100/2000 or 1/20.. right?
number favorable = 1 total = 10 so probability =???
spose we just put neils group in a room, that means that our of 100 tickets, one is the winner neil has how many of those tickets?
number favorable = 1 total = 10 so probability = 1/10
10, so 10/100 = 1 as taylor said, or 1/10
right, each ticket is has a probability of 1/100 and he has 10 of them ... 10*1/100 if you will
alright
Thanks @Taylor0402 @amistre64
good luck :)
no problem
