What are the secant and cosecant? (sorry it took me so long to reply the website was glitching)

using similar triangles you can prove that sec(x) = 1/ cos(x) and that csc(x) = 1/sin(x).
(from the picture). in geometry, these relationships are usually just given without proof.

Hmmm... we were told in class that secant is hypotenuse/opposite and cosecant is hypotenuse/adjacent. Same thing or no?
