@hartnn I have to finish filling out this table with the equation I made, but I'm confused on how to finish it.
does H(T) = -16T^2 + 150 + 18 go with the table ?
Yes, I'm supposed to be using the equation to get my answers with the table, that's what I'm confused about.
just sub in your numbers for T. lets sub in 0 H(0) = -16(0^2) + 150 + 18 H(0) = 0 + 150 + 18 H(0) = 168 so under the 0, you would put 168 now sub in 1 H(T) = -16(1^2) + 150 + 18 H(T) = -16 + 150 + 18 H(T) = 168 - 16 H(T) = 152 so under 1, put 152 and so on...
So, how would I get the answer for the one under 3?
By the way, thank you for taking the time to explain this to me.
H(3) = -16(3^2) + 150 + 18 H(3) = -16(9) + 150 + 18 H(3) = -144 + 150 + 18 H(3) = 168 - 144 H(3) = 24 put this under 3
But, I don't understand how it is 24 when under the 2 it is a higher number than 24.
Wouldn't it be 312?
H(2) = -16(2^2) + 150 + 18 H(2) = -16(4) + 168 H(2) = -64 + 168 H(2) = 104 this goes under 2 how did you get the numbers that you have on the chart already ??
I was watching the tutorial my teacher made (she didn't go over everything) and I think she wasn't using the negative, I think she just used 16 as positive.
But, I do understand where you're getting the answers from. I did the equations myself and I'm confused because I don't understand why she put the answers she did when the number is negative and you get a completely different answer.
not sure....because if H(T) = -16T^2 + 150 + 18 goes with the table...then I don't understand how she got those answers either...because as you keep subbing and going down the chart, you are even gonna get negative answers
That is true, I think the reason she didn't use the 16 as negative is because there was that plus over minus sign and in the beginning of the tutorial she said she wasn't going to care about the negative part, I apologize for this being confusing.
its not you...its your teacher.....he/she is confusing
I agree 100%. This whole semester I've been confused because she doesn't explain anything to me. I already have a hard time with math and when the teacher doesn't help, it's even worse. Especially when the instructions are NOT clear.
And even though it is my job as a student to be learning this and doing the work, I don't know how to when I don't have enough instruction given to me. I always have had to had clear instructions or directions to understand.
Jeez...what a mess...did you ever think about a tutor ?
I have, but no one has ever had the patience to teach me. Even the teachers in my past public school made me feel really stupid when I didn't understand.
thats crazy...you are not stupid....you just don't understand...that does not mean you are stupid..it just means you need some instruction and guidance to help you understand.
That's what I have always been told by my friends and family, everyone struggles with a certain topic, they just need extra help and instruction, it's nothing to be ashamed of. And I have this other question now and I have no idea what it's asking me to do.
ask the question and let me see if I can help
All four of these have nothing to do with what I was previously doing, the first one I'm stuck on and I don't even have a coordinate grid to work with.
ok....I am sorry to say I can't help with this....I am not the best with functions....just know the basics. Again, I am so sorry
Do you know what it's asking me to do though? I mean what axis?
I don't know...it seems like there is information missing
you sure it does not go with your previous question?
I think it does.
It goes with the previous thing that we were just doing. Is it asking me to find the axis of symmetry with the equation?
Oh yes, it's asking for the axis of symmetry with the parabola, I believe.
I am not the best with this type of problem.....I would say ask your teacher again...but obviously, that won't work. I am sorry I could not help. I wish you the best of luck
Thank you for all your help! I really appreciate it.
