What are some comparisons and contrasts of decade vs decade? I need at least 5. PLEASE HELP!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bibby @pyxieyt @satellite73 @mathmale

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Liv1234

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AlixxKK

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Check to ensure that you've copied the problem correctly. You've used the word "decade" twice. What course are you taking here?

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

I was about to say what he said above ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I have to write this essay for school. It is in 6th grade Language Arts. It is a comparison and contrast essay. They gave me a list of options to compare and contrast. I picked "decade vs. decade". Why did you call me lazy @bibby?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

Do you know the meaning of decade?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Liv1234 @AlixxKK @SolomonZelman @freckles @satellite73 @Smart_Owl_Student @CShrix @jim_thompson5910 @Catseyeglint911

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10 years

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

We don't compare or contrast decade vs decade. Again I ask you to go back and make sure you've copied down this problem correctly. Is this a math question or not?

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

Yes, a decade is a period of 10 years.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need some comparisons and contrast about 3 will do because I found 1. I found "Things can be different in the world around us every decade."

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

You may want to put this in the English section. People on this section are looking for math. Okay! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awww nart!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well can one of you give me at least 1 before I close this question otherwise posting it was a complete waste of time.

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

I think it would be hard to use this word. Maybe you should pick a word with different meanings!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, i'm not comparing and contrasting the word I am comparing and contrasting the time in that 10 years.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

There's nothing to compare or contrast in 10 years vs 10 years, unless, of course, you state that 10 years = 10 years. If you could find and share a good example of what you're supposed to do here, that would help others to help you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pyxieyt why are you still on here you said this was time wasted.

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

Oh I just wanted to understand what you were asking! So I could help you!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Please focus on solving or answering the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here are my options: • one decade vs another decade • one president vs another president • The Sound of Music (movie) vs The King and I (movie) • NASCAR vs Formula One • living on a farm vs living in a city • Gandalf (Lord of the Rings) vs Dumbledore (Harry Potter) • nuclear power vs solar power • the Ancient River Civilizations of Mesopotamia vs Egypt • saltwater fish vs freshwater fish • Greek vs Roman mythology • WEB DuBois vs Booker T. Washington • baseball vs cricket • muscles and bones vs joints and skin • thoroughbred horses vs Clydesdales • Christopher Columbus vs First astronaut in space • the Maya vs the Aztecs

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

Oh when they said one decade vs another decade I think they are wanting you to select two different decades in history to compare.

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

I think you should select it yourself and pick a topic that would be in your interest!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Thank you; that helps. You are to pick one of these pairs and compare and contrast them. For example, you could compare and contrast baseball vs the English game of cricket. Or you could compare and contrast the Maya (Indians) vs the Aztec (Indians). Yes, pyxieyt is correct. compare and contrast the 1990s (one decade) vs the 2000s (the next decade).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(Banging head against wall) Why, god? Why have you forsaken me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See you losers on the other side of the mountain that you'll never get to.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Choose whichever pair is MOST familiar to you. God has not forsaken you. Can you find in your textbook, study guide or online some good examples of "comparison and contrast?" @aelia6th: I warn you not to criticize people who are trying to help you. Unfortunately it is you who is not adequately prepared for an exercise in comparison and contrast. Again, my suggestion would be that you look for good examples of same, learn from them and then try comparing and contrasting one of the pairs in your table.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. My teacher barely taught us about compare and contrast. 2. I wasn't doing any of those. 3. PLEASE HELP ME YOUR NOT HELPING ME (YES I REALIZE I AM WRITING IN ALL CAPS)

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

@mathmale may have misunderstood the question but that doesn't give you a free pass to be rude to anyone on OpenStudy or a moderator on OpenStudy.

OpenStudy (pyxieyt):

Okay, when you compare two things you ask yourself "How they are alike". When you are contrasting two things you ask yourself "How are these things different".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Who is the mdratr also I DON'T CARE!!!!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

First of all, @Aelia6th: the responsibility to learn the meaning of "comparison" and "contrast" and to find examples is primarily yours. Don't blame your helpers if you haven't prepared yourself for this homework assignment. It's time to end this conversation, since we're still waiting for constructive effort from you, @Aelia6th, and secondly, this is the Math section, whereas your question belongs in the English section. Time to cool off, also. Sorry you're dissatisfied. Again, @pyxieyt is right on target, helpful, correct, accurate. I hope you learn from her.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How dare you close my question.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

A moderator can close a question and a moderator can also issue a warning or a suspension if you continue to break the Code of Conduct.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Because you, @Aelia6th, are going nowhere. Nothing constructive. No efforts to prepare yourself. Angry. Blaming others. Sorry. No soap.
