OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

A population consists of 609 people. Each member of the population is numbered 001 to 609. Use line 102 to select a sample of three people. What numbers are in the sample?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

@Directrix

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

is it 162, 484, 036?

Directrix (directrix):

70_363 52_569 06_161 86_277 is what I got.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

207, 484, 363 916, 207, 484 162, 484, 036 162, 074, 487

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

those are the options I have though

Directrix (directrix):

Here is where I found mine.

Directrix (directrix):

Those options are not on line 102. I don't think the table of random digits was necessary. Just select 3 numbers between and including 001 and 609. How did you get your answer?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

I did the numbers in the middle

Directrix (directrix):

Something is not right with the options or the questions. Three of the four options are are made of numbers between 001 and 609 inclusive.

Directrix (directrix):

162, 484, 036, 068, 525, 256, 061, 161, 277, 498

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

hold on im going to check on my book for examples brb

Directrix (directrix):

I have to see which of my list match with the options.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

ohhh ok hold on I think I got it

Directrix (directrix):

162, 484, 036 My first three numbers from row 102 are one of the options. And, the rival options are not in my list.

Directrix (directrix):

I read each table entry on that row taking 3 at the time to find integers between 001 and 609. The digits are arranged in groups of 5 for "ease" of reading.

Directrix (directrix):

> I did the numbers in the middle You have to look at all of the digits. You had the advantage of the options which is probably why you looked at the middle 3 digits of each entry of 5 digits on line 102.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

this is the example I have in my textbook

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

it tell me to look at them like this

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

|dw:1448341226441:dw|

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

207

Directrix (directrix):

I know but in a table of random digits, it is not random to systematically look at the middle 3 digits.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

but there is only one that matches :/
