How many solutions will this system of equations have? y = 3.5x − 3.5 y = −3.5x + 3.5 No solution Infinite solutions One solution Two solutions

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Ok, here's a tip for you. :) A system of equations can NEVER have 2 solutions. It can have one solution, infinitely many solutions, or no solutions. BUT it can NEVER have just 2 solutions. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i have done the math and i think it is 1 solution

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

ok, let me check it over :)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

You're correct! :D @casey321123 @~

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@casey321123 If I might just be a little pedantic: as system of LINEAR equations cannot have 2 solutions (if one or both of the equations is not a straight line then it is possible to have more than one solution. Otherewise - the above is good ! :-)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

If your system of equations has the same slope, BUT different y-intercepts, then it has no solutions. If your system of equations has the same slope, AND the same y-intercept, then it has infinity solutions. Otherwise, it has only 1 solution. :)
