OpenStudy (bluebeta):

Give Director’s Notes Reread Hamlet’s fourth soliloquy below; it is found in the play in Act 4, Scene 4. Then answer the questions on this page and provide director’s notes that indicate how you would instruct an actor to speak and behave while delivering this soliloquy. Hamlet. … How all occasions do inform against me And spur my dull revenge! What is a man If his chief good and market of his time Be but to sleep and feed? A beast, no more. Sure he that made us with such large discourse, Looking before and after, gave us not That capability and godlike reason To fust in us unused. Now, whether it be Bestial oblivion, or some craven scruple Of thinking too precisely on th' event— A thought which, quartered, hath but one part wisdom And ever three parts coward—I do not know Why yet I live to say, “This thing's to do,” Sith I have cause, and will, and strength, and means To do 't. Examples gross as earth exhort me. Witness this army of such mass and charge, Led by a delicate and tender prince, Whose spirit, with divine ambition puffed, Makes mouths at the invisible event, Exposing what is mortal and unsure To all that fortune, death, and danger dare, Even for an eggshell. Rightly to be great Is not to stir without great argument, But greatly to find quarrel in a straw When honor's at the stake. How stand I then, That have a father killed, a mother stained, Excitements of my reason and my blood, And let all sleep, while to my shame I see The imminent death of twenty thousand men That for a fantasy and trick of fame Go to their graves like beds, fight for a plot Whereon the numbers cannot try the cause, Which is not tomb enough and continent To hide the slain? O, from this time forth, My thoughts be bloody, or be nothing worth! (2 points) Score 1. What emotions do you think Hamlet experiences over the course of this speech? Answer: (2 points) Score 2. What conclusion does Hamlet reach, or what does Hamlet realize, over the course of this speech? Answer: (2 points) Score 3. Oh my. I would love to help you but I don't know how to without giving you a direct answer. I will tag people who might be able to.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

I'm ready to give up on english..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that feeling except for me its Math. Never give up though. "Whenever you have taken up work in hand, you must see it to the finish. That is the ultimate secret of success. Never, never, never give up!" -Dada Vaswani

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

I'm pretty decent at math. I'm in pre-cal/trig right now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh man that's real advanced in my opinion. I am in algebra 2 and I feel like sobbing when I even think about it lol.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

If you ever need help, let me know.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

i doubt anyone's gonna be able to help me. I'm getting "yelled" at by a teacher via online because of this stupid assignment.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you wait and be patient I'm sure you will get help, sometimes it takes a while for people to come on. Also the site might be a little slow cause in the U.S. the west coast is hardly waking up right now since its 8am there and its also Thanksgiving break so majority don't have school. I have no idea about other countries though. You can try asking this question in the "English" section though might give you better help results or in "Literature" but the "English" has gotten me faster answers.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

I'm sorry, and I asked it there, too. If I tell you the answers I came up with.. would that help? Do you think you could help me with the fourth question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I think it might help a little cause then I can just review your answers. Darn this Hamlet xD.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

1. What emotions do you think Hamlet experiences over the course of this speech? Answer: I think Hamlet experiences anger in this speech. (2 points) Score 2. What conclusion does Hamlet reach, or what does Hamlet realize, over the course of this speech? Answer: This army makes him realize that his lame attempts at revenge have been dishonorable. (2 points) Score 3. How do you want the audience to feel about Hamlet and his situation after hearing this speech? Answer: I think the audience should feel understanding, because he wants revenge for what happened to his family, and isn’t going to change his mind.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

Give me just a moment to respond.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure thing, reviewing your second question now. Also if you do use my helped answers let me know if you get them right or wrong. I am kinda doing this in the moment with you right now so I'm trying to do my best.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):

Of course. I appreciate it. I see my answers weren't all that good lol.

OpenStudy (bluebeta):
