Find the value of a+b+c if 173a is divisible by 9, 173b is divisible by 11, and 173c is divisible by 6.

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

does 173a mean 173_ where the last digit of the number is a, or does it mean 173*a?

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

If it's that the last digit of the number is a, then you can use divisibility rules. (Here's a chart that I found in Google images: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/1b/41/c2/1b41c2fb8f20021e11595a48986e2a13.jpg) I would set statements like 1+7+3+a is divisible by 9 from this you can find what a should be, and so on for b and c. let me know what you get, and I can tell you if I agree!
