How does http://prntscr.com/97pcve have a higher Teamwork score than http://prntscr.com/97pe1v ? Not criticizing the SmartScore system, I am just more curious to how it works...
Well the smart score works as you can see by how many people helped etc
I know, but the 60 SS one has twice as many people helped yet it has 2 fewer than one with half the people helped.
Well he invited 42 peopl O_o
No, that one didn't. Look again, he hasn't invited anyone.
Sorry, i meant helped
Every little thing you do on OpenStudy can increase your smartscore. It's how well you do these things to increase it. There's no fast easy way to increase it. It takes time. For the problem solving portion, you must answer questions not only in detail, but guiding the user to understanding the problem. Giving direct answers is not only not allowed, but it doesn't even help the user understand anything. Plus, direct answers don't increase your smartscore as fast as answering in detail would. Teamwork! One thing people consider to be somewhat hard to do. By gaining fans as well as fanning users, you are then increasing your smartscore even more! The more fans you earn, the higher you go. But be aware that creating accounts to fan yourself doesn't increase your smartscore by much. Also, it's not allowed and could lead to your main account being suspended forever. You best bet would be to enter chats, as well as help out a lot. Lastly we have engagement. Here is the fun part, when you ask questions you're increasing your smartscore! Isn't that cool? You can increase your smartscore just by making threads you need help on! Not to mention the amount of medals you earn and give out can help increase it faster! But keep in mind, spamming yourself with medals isn't allowed on here and will not increase your smartscore fast at all. Another thing about engagement is that the longer you're on here, the higher your smartscore goes too! It's as if almost everything on here will increase your smartscore. It can be fun and I hope you find it very fun too. I hope you have the best time on OpenStudy and good luck with the journey on here. c: ~ beccaboo333
Ok, let me type the values: 60 SS (BTW this is mine) Invited Users: 1 Testimonials: 16 Fans: 91 People Helped: 47 62 SS Invited Users: 0 Testimonials: 10 Fans: 90 People helped: 20
Each value clearly has less in the 60 SS one, but why does it have a lower SS than one with less than it?
Hi there Malcom!
Hi TSO
Wow thats weird
^ That's what I thought
The SmartScore system is a very mysterious system, and no one can properly study it. No one has really studied the subscores as there is no real correlation between the subscores and the overall SmartScores. People have only studied the smartscore system.
Also, if you want to investigate for yourself, the two profiles are mine and @quickstudent 's
Yea its kinda messed up, as you can see :/
Wait a second... your subscores have NO correlation whatsoever to your SmartScore?
who is that 60?
Mine
ok
Those values on your profile are always messed up. For example, if you go to my profile and look at my engagement score, you can notice that it says I got 96 medals for asking, when in reality, I probably have gotten like 300 medals on posts that I asked. http://prntscr.com/97pkqm
ok i think this can happen only if the formula of engagement score is dependent on the engagement and problem solving skills.
Jiggly mentioned that SmartScores are comparatively based, so that the top person on OS gets a 100SS smartscore, (satellite) then there are like the top 100 people, who then become 99ers, and then 200 for the 98s and so on. So, SS is like a leaderboard...?
Oh I've noticed many users in the OS online user chart higher than me, when I check to see their smart score I'm actually higher then them yet im underneath them
his engagement and overall SS is more So maybe this is the reason
I actually mostly got to my 90 SS for team work ._.
Remember, SubsScores are not correlated with the overall smartscore
Although I know problem solving bumps your SS faster
That's perfectly respectable @just_one_last_goodbye
@just_one_last_goodbye @hhelpplzzzz has a 100 engagement subscore, and a higher overall smartscore than you too. :P
So whatchya talkin bout?
What I was going to say was that I always thought SS was plugging the subscores into some algorithm, and getting a result based on that.
no
Oh engagement is very hard to raise up.
^ very true
you ahv to ask 9000 questions to have 100 engamement
@AlexandervonHumboldt2 that's incorrect information
btw i think that the system of 1 person having 100ss and then 100 ppl having 99ss is not ok cuz we knw that there are more than 1m ppl on os and doin math only 495100 ppl can be on os this way :P
i joked
time to become smarter @TheSmartOne
Not everything is a "joke" We shouldn't "joked" about every small issue. There is a time for us to "joked" and there is a time for us not to "joked."
stop spamming
anyways.... SS's are very inaccurate some times
sorry for the inconvenience @malcolmmcswain
Yup. It's fine. Closing this post.
When I got my 90 SS I was still a 89 SS mustard green ._. I was chatting in chat till someone told me in chat I was Neon green so I refreshed and saw my new SS. So I understand the SS problems.
Lol xD when I was a 89 SS I was going crazy trying to bump my problem solving SS.... and didn't know my goal was already reached.
Haha. Well, that's great. SS is not a completely terrible system, it's just very mysterious. o_O
O_o o_O
Hey global intern
:P
