I'm 28 and as inexperienced as they come. I just recently decided to take the initiative to learn how to code and program after years of procrastination. Anybody else been in my shoes and have any insight or advice to share? I'm very eager to learn.

Go to college

OpenStudy (woodrow73):

There are many avenues to develop your own programming skills without the attendance of college, say if you are financially limited or opposed to class theory. Many textbooks are amazing tools to learn with, specifically ones that are made by someone with passion (makes it interesting) and has great reviews (shows you the good, the bad, and the ugly). Both Barnes & Noble and Amazon are good resources for textbooks. Online video courses are another option, one that is quite popular is udemy.com. Many skilled individuals have made courses there, which has helped me in developing certain skills. I appreciate it's rating system and it's free-roam course structure; once you are in a course, you can access all the videos and have access to a question board for the instructor and students to partake in. (and it's nice to be on the lookout for occasional udemy discount codes for good deals). My last recommendation is to keep creative, and have goals that you want to strive for; constantly test your newfound skills by developing something you're dreaming of. Best of luck
