here what i gather but i believe this wont's help you sorry The ozone layer, which is part of the atmosphere, filters out a lot of the dangerous ultraviolet. The magnetic field protects us from high energy charged particles, which come from the sun during solar storms, and otherwise come from all directions in space (so-called "cosmic rays"). We mostly see the effects of those in the Northern Lights and Southern Lights, which occur high up in the atmosphere at the poles. The atmosphere also filters out a lot of other frequencies of electromagnetic radiation, X-rays, for instance. There aren't a lot of those from the sun, but what X-rays there are, are pretty much stopped in the upper atmosphere.
