Which personal pronoun agrees with the antecedent in this sentence? Has neither owner trained __________ dog to fetch objects yet? A. him or her B. his or her C. their
Their. This one could be tricky in that his or her could be correct. However, the reason it is NOT B is because we don't know if the two people are male and female. So again, your answer is their(C)
That would be B. try fitting in his/her in the sentence.
It might be B because his or her would apply to both. I am not sure what this rule is called, but when you ask questions like this I believe you do give the option His or Her (object, pet, ect.).
Its B
It's not B (him dog) doesn't fit. It would be his dog. So B. Yes @ChelseaLee that's what I was trying to say but couldn't think of
But we aren't given the genders of the owners
Unless his/her is used as an extremely vague term, which means shame on the english language
Maybe you're right, @Zedditup. (Their) does make sense in the sentence so yeah..
