OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

Describe how the following stages occur in a neuron in terms of ion movement across the cell membrane: resting potential, threshold potential, depolarization, repolarization.

OpenStudy (athecool):

Um I don't think anyone will know about this. ask the @TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@leahhhmorgannn Look at this http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/54cd998de4b029c2c849346b and if you have any questions, ask @PRAETORIAN.10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RESTING POTENTIAL: the electrical potential of a neuron or other excitable cell relative to its surroundings when not stimulated or involved in passage of an impulse. THRESHOLD POTENTIAL: is the critical level to which the membrane potential must be depolarized in order to initiate an action potential. DEPOLARIZATION is the loss of polarization; especially : loss of the difference in charge between the inside and outside of the plasma membrane of a muscle or nerve cell due to a change in permeability and migration of sodium ions to the interior. REPOLARIZATION: refers to the change in membrane potential that returns it to a negative value just after the depolarization phase of an action potential has changed the membrane potential to a positive value.

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

So, how, exactly would those be ordered then? I don't get the order they go in or how they change from one another.

OpenStudy (athecool):

Ask the @TheSmartOne he/she is the best!!

OpenStudy (athecool):

:)

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

lol yeah, I usually do trust them with most of my questions, especially in math. I know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um...............

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hang on

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

Those are what I'm looking at now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@PRAETORIAN.10 would be able to answer your question better as he is a smart doctor squid.

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

sad thing is, he's not even online lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey, did find what you were looking for?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

He should be online during the night times, since he lives on the other side of the world :P

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

Joe - I have definitions and everything, but the order in which to put them confuses me, as well as explaining how it has to do with moving ions across the cell membrane.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Okay I will try my best.

OpenStudy (leahhhmorgannn):

You don't have to find it - it's my responsibility to know all of this, I'll do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.
