OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

An elementary school teacher wants to know if she has the materials needed for the labs in a science book. She reads the materials list for every third experiment listed and finds that she does not have the materials needed for one of them. What is the sample in this situation? A. every materials list in the book B. every materials list that she did not read C. the materials list for every third experiment D. the materials list for which she does not have all the materials

how do you define sample?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

some of the information

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here: https://www.google.com/search?q=sample+define \

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You might want to look up the definition again, but its good enough. "Some of the information" The information, aka the population is all of the items on the list part of it includes 1/3 of the items on the list.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have read this now 4 times and i honestly don't know what they are getting at if you want i guess, i would say C. the materials list for every third experiment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sample space is usually the set of all possible outcomes of an experiment, at least that is what it is in the context of probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really i would not bet more than $6 on my answer

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

yeah I was thinking the exact same thing because the rest don't show samples

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why does everyone spoil it.. you already have enough knowledge to chose the correct answer! So basically the population is the entire list. (analogous to the US population) The sample is a survey of a portion of that list. (ex: surveying 100k voters to see if donald trump will win)

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

aww is ok I'll give you a medal on another question and I do appreciate your help :) @alexsmith4589

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

because even though satellite confirmed the answer that I was thinking of you actually gave me an explanation to help me understand it and that is a good thing :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the reassurance, its fine, i don't need a medal. its just me ranting about how people don't even use logic for anything.. For most classes Im able to take a test without undertanding half of the concepts and ending up with over an 80%.. everyone should be able to do this even in ap/college classes

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

and I totally agree with you regardless satellite has helped me before when I post question and he/she usually does explain why he/she thinks that the answer would be correct or incorrect, he/she usually asks for my opinion but since this was sort of a general knowledge question it didn't really really need a extremely detailed explanation other than an understanding of it. And like I said before I do appreciate your help and you do deserve a medal.
