I tried using the formula, but I didn't get the correct answer. Help
OpenStudy (shaleiah):
@haleyelizabeth2017
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Which formula did you try using?
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
I used sine...and I got an answer
OpenStudy (shaleiah):
\[a^2+b^2=c^2\]

You can't use the pythagorean theorem when you are given an angle and side. That theorem only works when given two sides
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Set it up like so:\[sin(45)=\frac{3\sqrt{2}}{x}\] which is the same as\[x=\frac{3\sqrt{2}}{sin(45)}\]Try that :)
OpenStudy (shaleiah):
4.986
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Nope..
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Did you plug \[\frac{3\sqrt{2}}{sin(45}\] into a calculator?

I figured if I rounded the value it would be 5.
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Oops, forgot the end parenthesis....
OpenStudy (shaleiah):
Yes
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
You should have gotten 6...
OpenStudy (shaleiah):
I didn't get 6 :/

You're in radians. There should be a mode button on your calculator, push it
OpenStudy (shaleiah):
Alright
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Okay, do you see an option that says
DEG RAD GRAD
? It might be highlighting the RAD option
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Or maybe it just says
Radians Degrees
OpenStudy (shaleiah):
Got it!! :) the value is 6 now.
