Is it more efficient from an energy standpoint to be a vegetarian vs. an omnivore?

vegetarian. I can't say this is a correct statistic but I believe only 10% of the energy gets transferred between each successive layer of the food chain.

You got me, ok. I literally smiled and thought. Yep, she got me xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe its omnivore because even though you get less energy from eating meat, as an omnivore you eat both plants and animals so you can acquire more energy

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

I had written out this whole thing explaining it, but OS derped and I lost it ._. Basically we get energy from the sun Plants gets energy from the sun We eat plants, or we eat animals that got energy from the plants Or we eat animals that ate animals that ate plants Basically, as energy moves down the line, you lose a percentage. So a plant that got energy directly from the sun would have more energy in it, size wise, than an animal that ate plants or an animal that eats animals for energy. So vegetarians are getting sufficient, and even better energy. They also get better fats. "Omnivores may allow themselves a wide variety of foods, but both diets have their pros and cons. For example, trans fats and saturated fats -- known as the "bad" fats -- present in some meats and dairy products can cause high cholesterol levels and lead to possible heart problems. Vegetable-rich diets, however, offer antioxidants and other health benefits, and "good" vegetable fats like olive oil can help protect the heart and the body in general. - See more at: http://www.livestrong.com/article/463516-vegetarian-vs-omnivores-facts/#sthash.cLa5xNnM.dpuf " Quoted that from a website because I didnʻt feel like using terminology or thinking that much, Iʻm tired xD

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Yes there is such thing as "better fats" xD
