Say there’s a block of wood on a flat table and the frictional force is F. The power to slide the block at velocity S is F*S. Now, suppose the flat table is moving horizontally at the velocity St. For a guy standing on the table the power to slide the block at velocity S relative to the table is still F * S, right? Now suppose someone walking on the ground wants to follow the table and push the block at velocity S, also relative to the table. To do this he has to walk at ground velocity (S + St). Is the required power for this guy on the ground F *(S + St)?
