OpenStudy (sboodhoo):

Please Help! How would the density of water change if you measured out ½ cup instead of ¼ cup? Explain your answer in complete sentences

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

The density is the ratio of mass to volume. If you measure out twice as much volume, won't you also measure out twice as much mass? What does that do to the density? If I buy a 1 pound package of vegetables for $4, or 2 1 pound packages for $8, does the price per pound change? How about if I buy a 2 pound package for $8?

OpenStudy (tatianagomezb):

the density of a substance isn't an extensive property, which means it doesn't matter how much of said substance you're studying, it will always be the same. density is an intensive property, as @whpalmer4 said, it will be unique, and the same for 1/2 a cup or 1/4 cup.
