What do you think of the use of standardized admission to higher education in the United States tests?

A standardized test is any form of test that (1) requires all test takers to answer the same questions, or a selection of questions from common bank of questions, in the same way, and that (2) is scored in a “standard” or consistent manner, which makes it possible to compare the relative performance of individual students or groups of students. I think it bs! I'm a senior, and failed a EOC 3 times,( passed the class) haven't taken it since my freshmen year though, if I fail it tomorrow I don't graduate... Not to mention what I'm going to school for after this has nothing to do with ALGEBRA!

I think it depends on how schools use them. On the one hand, GPAs aren't as reliable a measure of student achievement as they once were because of grade inflation. But standardized tests are biased against low income students, non white students, and non Christian students. I think in conjunction with other measures, like personal essays and interviews, they can be a good piece of the puzzle, but often higher education institutions put too much weight on ACT and SAT scores.
