Need a refresher on a few problems..

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Find and simplify the difference quotient f(x+h)-f(x) over h , h=/0 for the given function. f(x)=x^2 +4x+5

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

I got 2x+h+4.

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

(2,5) perpendicular to the line y-1/6x +8

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

I got y=-1/6x -17/6

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

@IrishBoy123

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

post/scan/link/draw the original question if you can, pls. then i can try help :p

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

for perpendicular lines, following general equation \(y = mx + c\). we know that \(m_1 m_2 = -1\)

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Yeah..

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

yeah.... work it from there

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

y-5= -1/6(x-2)

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

Note what is posted: m1*m2=−1 so -1/6 is not the right slope....

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Oh my gosh -.-

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Okay starting over now.. y-5=-6/1(x-2)

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Answer- y=-6x+17

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

correct :)

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Okay. Cannot believe I did that

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Next question..

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Use the graph of the function f, plotted with a solid line, to sketch the graph of the given function g. g(x)= -f(x+2)-2 y=f(x)

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

I know -f causes it to be flipped.. But I cant remember if (x+2) is vertical or horizontal.. I think horizontal :/

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

|dw:1449179210336:dw| make sense?

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Uh no

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Are you saying (x+2) is the vertical shift?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

|dw:1449179417456:dw| notice the expression x+2 will just move everything sideway by +2
