i am pretty good depending on the subject in language arts but i will do my best dear
Okay. Great here is the first question: The author of "Enrico Fermi: The 'Italian Navigator'" said Fermi was like a ship captain. Why did the author use the comparison that Dr. Fermi was like a ship captain? He was "lost at sea" in his project. His experiments occurred on a ship. He moved through dangerous territory taking readings of the progress. He had a crew of people who would not cooperate.
C :)
Ok. I wouldn't know because I have never read the story. Next question: Read the passage: Nikola Tesla sounds like a nineteenth century sideshow performer, but he was one of the most brilliant inventors in history. In fact, every electrical appliance today uses at least one of Tesla's inventions. What is the author's attitude toward his subject in this passage? confused skeptical respectful critical
mmm to me it would be respectful.
Okay. Next Question: Which is true of a paraphrase? You must break the original text down into individual sentences. You do not have to credit the original source of information. You must substitute phrases here and there. You must copy the main idea of the original passage word for word.
C I believe :)
"Paraphrase: express the meaning of (the writer or speaker or something written or spoken) using different words, especially to achieve greater clarity"
That is what I thought to. Next: Read the passage: If you had seen him striding down the street, though, you would never have thought that he spent most of his time building inventions in a laboratory. Which the best question to ask at this point in the reading? A. What street was he walking down? B. What did he spend all of his time doing? C. Why did he appear different from what he was? D. What kind of inventions did he build in his laboratory?
Definitley not A or B.. I would say C but Imnot sure.. brb :)
Okay. That is what I thought as well. Next Question: Review the scenario: Khianna just learned that microscopic, tiny, small, and miniscule are all synonyms. Which reference material would be most likely to contain this information? A. thesaurus This one, right? B. glossary C. dictionary D. encyclopedia
