find tan 180

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

hint: we can write this: \(\tan(180)=\sin(180)/\cos(180)=...?\)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You might want to draw the angle 180 deg. Can you then identify the "opposite side," the "adjacent side," and the "hypotenuse?"

iYuko (iyuko):

sine/ cosine=tan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 0

iYuko (iyuko):

yup

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

that's right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks everyone :3

iYuko (iyuko):

are you using unit circle?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

:)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I agree with Michele Laino's re-writing of tan 180, but would like to point out that tan 180 = (opposite side) / (adjacent side).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Using the "unit circle" here is fine, but not essential.
