Please somebody can help me with the Questions #1 and #2. Thanks

OpenStudy (grandmoffchris):

what does THAT MEANS?

Atsie (atsie):

Firstly a Unit Rate is a comparison of two different quantities when they are combined together. What quantities are combined together in number one? Can you see anything?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry is 3 and 9

Atsie (atsie):

Right, because Mrs. O'Neill can 24 square feet in 9 hours and we want to know how many feet she can tile in 9. 9 and 3 are two different time quantities. You could explain this for problem one, in your own words. One tip I'd give is to give the definition of a Unit Rate and then state the above, because this shows your teacher or whomever is grading it that you understand what it is and you've been attentive.

Atsie (atsie):

Do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, can you help me with # 2. Thanks

Atsie (atsie):

An 18 ounce box and a 30 ounce box...does that sound like it fits the definition of proportion to you? Sounds like it to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand

Atsie (atsie):

A proportion is a part, share, or number considered in comparative relation to a whole. 18 ounces and 30 ounces are proportions. They are different parts and numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you can't use a proportion for this problem

Atsie (atsie):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi atsie

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@blanca1 it is 72, cuz in one hour is 8 feet, so 8 x 9 = 72 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to figure that 1 hour is 24 / 3 = 8 and 8 x 9 = 72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and alo 24 x 3 = 216

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea but check out the questions #1, and #2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on #1 what is the question? it just says " She Can tile 72 Square feet in 9 hours "

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question for #1 is can you use a unit rate to solve problem #1. explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dunnno what a unit Rate is :(
