Much better: one question posted at a time, and you have shared the work you've already done. sin theta = 5/9 is solveable for theta. First, y ou might want to graph the function sin theta between -2pi and 2pi to get an idea (rough idea) of the angles "theta" at which the sine has the value +5/9. What type of calculator are you using? Have you set the calculator to DEGREE mode?
I don't know how to use "degree mode" on WolframAlpha. My graphing calculator broke.
About your first comment: You or I could boot your question to the top of the queue if you don't get responses fast. Secondly, if you leave your problem posted and open, someone is likely to answer it when the number of users increases. That's dependent upon the day and the time, as I explained earlier.

is the answer, but it's in implicit form. We have to solve this equation for theta. How would you do that if your calculator were not broken?

result: 33.749 degrees. Now all you have to do is to convert 0.749 degrees to minutes and seconds. Can you do that?

I typed into Wolfram the following: arcsin 5/9, and quickly got a value for theta in radians. You'd have to convert that into degrees and then round off.

I disagree with that 33.8 degrees answer. Take another look at your round-off work.
Practice: round off 33.312 degrees to 1 dec. place. round off 33. 89 to 1 dec. place.

Yes. The rule is: 33.749... is rounded down to 33.7, whereas 33.750 or greater is rounded up to 33.8.
I thought so too, but that person insisted it was 33.8 No idea why.

sin theta =5/9 has TWO solutions between 0 and 180 degrees. Know how to find the 2nd solution? I quit OpenStudy for a year partly because I was fed up with the mechanical delays. But I still think my advice is good: Learn when a couple of dozen users are on, and then ask for help during such time periods.

Enuf. I can't do anything about the delays; Have to live with it. OpenStudy is free. Where else would you get free math help? Patience, please. If you'd look at the graph of the sine function, you'd see that sin theta =5/9 is possible ONLY in Quadrants I and II.
Hint: simply subtract 33.749 from 180 degrees and then round off the answer to 1 decimal place.
The resulting angle will be in QII.

I'm getting 33.7 and 146.3 as well. If the second answer doesn't work, then there may be a typo somewhere? Anyways, there is one neat way to compute trig inverses using google. Google can be used as a calculator. Type in "arcsin(5/9) in degrees" without quotes. You have to stick "in degrees" in there because google defaults in radian mode for some reason See the attached image

As I said, I'm off for a while. Frankly tired of complaints.
It's not a complaint. I need to explain to people because apparently nobody else lags enough to understand that I'm trying to get help without wasting other people's time. "Why are you taking so long to respond? Are you needing help or not?" "Don't be ungrateful ... you took too long to answer." These are literal things I've heard from tutors. Am I supposed to just ignore that and not get help because they don't get I'm lagging...? I'm just trying to understand my own work, and not annoy people because I lag. If explaining that is complaining then idk how to get people to help me without them getting mad.
