OpenStudy (mathmale):

Please make certain you understand the meaning of the word "inconsistent." Then look for an example of a system of inconsistent equations.

OpenStudy (theedwardsfamily):

@mathmale "inconsistent" is to parrellel lines

OpenStudy (theedwardsfamily):

*two

563blackghost (563blackghost):

"Incosistent" does mean that they are parallel lines ^^.... Now the characteristics of parallel lines is that they both will never touch each other and have the same slope.... so with that said what is the slope of the other equation?

OpenStudy (theedwardsfamily):

um im not so sure

563blackghost (563blackghost):

with parallel lines they have the same slope and never touch.... |dw:1449520878427:dw|

OpenStudy (theedwardsfamily):

true

563blackghost (563blackghost):

So the missing slope is 2/3 as well

OpenStudy (theedwardsfamily):

so it would be 2/3x

563blackghost (563blackghost):

correct ^^

OpenStudy (theedwardsfamily):

thank u

OpenStudy (mathmale):

The slope is 2/3. that becomes part of y=(2/3)x + d. 2/3x is incorrect (ambiguuous).

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Yes it would be \[\frac{ 2 }{ 3 }x\]
