I am not too good at history, but I think the answer is, A. By colonizing much of the world, Europeans could simulate global economic growth for the poorest regions.
I'm pretty positive that it is C. Partially the reason as to why the New World was so important was the lack of resources in Europe, as most of it had been conquered by man.
