Atsie (atsie):

I got a quick question. I already know the answer to this equation, but I'm trying to backtrack on something and make sure I'm understanding correctly. 4x + 3 > 27 x is supposed to equal 6. Step by step in order, what is the explanation as to WHY x equals 6.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered subtracting 3 from each side?

Atsie (atsie):

As in 3 - 4 and 3 - 27? Like that your saying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(6) + 3 > 27 Multiply 6 by 4 Subtract 3 from that number compare with 27

Atsie (atsie):

@jcbako Why would I multiply 6 by 4 though if I in the first place did not know that x = 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry...start by subtracting three
