ok lets do this....
In a series of rock layers, a geologist finds fossils of a lizard-like dinosaur and a fern-like tree in layers that are 1.0 m and 1.5 m deep. However, in a layer that is 2.0 m deep, he finds fossils of bony fish and shellfish. Which explains his findings?
A. An asteroid hit the area, causing the dinosaur to become extinct. B. The ancient land area was invaded by a sea. C. The continent shifted to a polar region. D. The ancient sea dried up and became land.
i am being timed please hurry...not trying to make you mad but i'm timed so....ya
Well, I think the answer should be that an ancient land area was invaded by the sea. Its because that the lizard-like dinosaur and the fern like tree were buried underneath the fish fossil and the shellfish fossil. I mean there should have been a land first, after which the sea invaded, hence, the dinosaur got buried in the last level of rock. And then on the upper layers, there were fishes.
Which characteristic is common to all minerals? A. They are man-made. B. They are inorganic. C. They have the same chemical compositions. D. They have an amorphous structure.
A mineral is a naturally occurring inorganic solid, with a definite chemical composition, and an ordered atomic arrangement. This may seem a bit of a mouthful, but if you break it down it becomes simpler. •Minerals are naturally occurring They are not made by humans •Minerals are inorganic They have never been alive and are not made up from plants or animals •Minerals are solids They are not liquids (like water), or gases (like the air around you) •Minerals have a definite chemical composition Each one is made of a particular mix of chemical elements •Minerals have an ordered atomic arrangement The chemical elements that make up each mineral are arranged in a particular way - this is why minerals 'grow' as crystals Your answer would be C. x3
In tropical climates, why is there heavy vegetation but poor soil? A. Heavy rainfall washes essential nutrients from the soil. B. Heavy rainfall mechanically weathers the soil. C. There is much chemical weathering that makes the soil poor. D. Chemicals cause the soil to be too acidic.
A I believe.
Which is the correct explanation for 120°W longitude? A. all positions along a circle that runs perpendicular to the equator and 120° east of the prime meridian B. all positions along a circle that runs perpendicular to the equator and 120° west of the prime meridian C. all positions along a circle that runs perpendicular to the prime meridian and 120° west of the equator D. all positions along a circle that runs parallel to the prime meridian and 120° east of the equator
I think D, lemme double check tho.
Yep immah go with D
What type of pressure system is represented by the L on this map, and what kind of weather is a likely result? A. low pressure; cloudy or rainy weather B. high pressure; cloudy or rainy weather C. high pressure; sunny weather D. low pressure; sunny weather
wait.....
Map~?
Found another openstudy entry on it. Is this it? https://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/926500_927000/926655/1/eeb8c0a50d939e5ecea9b994f871155fbb00e735/MS2_ERT_06_02_201_PIC_weather_map.jpg

How are the prevailing winds set up? A. Uneven heating sets up a general circulation pattern from the equator to the poles. Earth's rotation breaks it into six cells and deflects the surface winds. B. Uneven heating sets up a general circulation pattern from the poles to the equator. Earth's rotation breaks it into six cells and deflects the surface winds. C. Earth's rotation sets up a general circulation pattern from the equator to the poles. Uneven heating breaks it into six cells and deflects the surface winds. D. Earth's rotation sets up a general circulation pattern from the poles to the equator. Uneven heating breaks it into six cells and deflects the surface winds.
there's one
It is b because, prevailing winds lead to winds going through the types of different ways and winds can occur in different patterns depending on the types of winds that can hit somewhere or go somewhere.
