PLEASE HELP AND DON'T GUESS IM GIVING MEDALS AND FANNING TO WHOEVER CAN TELL ME THE ANSWER OR EXPLAIN What is the best approximation of the solution to the system to the nearest integer values? https://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1513500_1514000/1513732/1/39073ea4e75b5dd3f1dab53bf24c3569e3e2765c/MS_IMC-1400804-100539.jpg ( , )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres the graph

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Look at the graph. What is the closest grid intersection to where the lines cross? The solution is the point of intersection.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do yo mean by that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you*

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Do you see where the two slanted lines cross? Find the closest intersection on the grid. Look down to the x-axis and left to the y-axis to figure the coordinates of that spot, (x,y).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes i see where they cross.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, what are the coordinates of the nearest intersection?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont really get this stuff. & Please dont leave i need help :((

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

|dw:1449773663699:dw|

OpenStudy (landon34):

hi can I help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes!! please

OpenStudy (landon34):

ok what is the problem?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Each line represents 1 unit. If you start at (0,0) and move 1 line to the right, but do not move up or down, the new coordinate is (1,0) |dw:1449773772960:dw|

OpenStudy (landon34):

Hold on Im gonna get a monster to drink. hold on. sorry that you have to wait. Im thirsty.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Landon, I think I have it covered here...

OpenStudy (landon34):

ok, I dont mind.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Kara, do you see why the point I marked with a little circle is (1,0)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Do you see where the point (0,0) is indicated on the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, to go from (0,0) to (1,0), how many vertical lines do we go to the right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay. How many horizontal lines do we go up or down to get from (0,0) to (1,0)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk, how many?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Look at the graph and count. Did you have to go up or down?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you please just tell me the answer ive been on this test for almost 2 hours. and this is the last question :(( please please please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

explain how you got the answer and then tell me it?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You aren't allowed to ask for help on a test on OpenStudy... Think of the x and y axes as number lines. If you draw a line straight to the x-axis from the point of intersection, where does it cross the x-axis? That is the x coordinate. If you draw a line straight to the y-axis from the point of intersection, where does it cross the y-axis? That is the y coordinate. Your answer will be (x,y) where x and y are the values you figured that way. Good luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still doesnt help :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I GAVE ONE :P HHEHEHE

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You really need to have your teacher help you understand how a graph works, it appears. This is very important knowledge you will use countless times, so if you don't learn it, you'll be in a world of hurt...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But i do online school

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

that's kind of a problem, then. here is a good video series to watch: https://www.khanacademy.org/math/basic-geo/basic-geo-coordinate-plane/copy-of-cc-6th-coordinate-plane/v/the-coordinate-plane
