http://prntscr.com/9cr1i9 How does the author create a sense of sadness about the situation? He sets the story on a rainy day. He gives Gregor an ordinary room. He makes Gregor a textile salesman. He has Gregor waking from a bad dream. I'm torn between A and D here.
If you'd pay attention to the so obvious link I posted FIRST on this question, maybe you'd be able to read and figure it out for yourself. I have no use for you if you're not going to bother to look at the resources provided.
it may be the rain because in the third paragraph there's a quote that says "Drops of rain could be heard hitting the pane, which made him feel quite sad"
However, from being an author myself, I know that both that and D would be used to make a depressed or sorrowful air to the story. D will create more a past sorrow though, one that haunts him in his dreams but may not follow him into his real life and probably not into this story.
If they're talking such a basic mood of sadness, then yes, it'd be A. If you read more into it though, like I do, it'd be D.
But since the question is basically worded, I'd go with the basic answer. So A.
I learned from a young age that having readers picture anything happening on a rainy day makes for a sad story.
so did i help?
Sure, you made me think about it more than I was. Mostly because I didn't trust you though so.
glad i could help :)
