sampling help?
ok
The morning news radio station is interested in predicting the proportion of registered voters who support an increase in the state sales tax. Listeners were asked to go toteh stations wesite and indicate whether they favored an increase in the tax in order to support the state park system. There were 1,744 listeners who logged on and 922 who were against the increase. The population of interest is all the people who listen to the station******* the 1744 listeners who logged in and indicated their perferrance the 922 listeners who were gaainst teh issue all registered voters only the proportion of the 1744 listeners who voted that are actually registered to vote.
I put ** next to my answer
Hmm..
you are correct
how do you know? i thought maybe it was the 922 because they were the feedback,
but also the population of people are All of the listeners.
oopsm sorry the answer is the 922 listeners who were gaainst teh issue all registered voters
*oops
but how do you know?
@mathmale this is stats. just in-case you were wondering
"population" here denotes the a certain group of people, and it's our job to identify and accurately describe that group. What are YOUR thoughts, jessicawade, as to which of the four possible answers best describes the population here?
well any population of anything regarding a sample is ALL of the members
so thats why i was thinking A
but also only 1,744 people got on.
@mathmale
lol
@ganeshie8
Right. Only 1744 people "got on" AND "responded." (if they didn't respond, we'd know nothing about them, right? So, try again: Which of the four choices best identifies the population?
my next best guess would be A, all of the people who listened to the station
because every single one of those people who heard teh radio station said that became part of teh population and had a choice to answer or not.
@Michele_Laino
@mathmale i think its A because ots all of the people who heard them say the radio thingy
