OpenStudy (gokuporter):

Slope is \[\frac{ 8 }{ -8}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -1 right?

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

For the slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeh

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

8 - 0 over 0 - 8 = 8/-8 which equals to -1 -1 is the slope :)

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

You can also determine that a slope is negative, by how it looks. In this case, negative slopes go from the top left to the bottom right

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

Oh okay. Thanks for the help. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since u have the slope use this (y-y1)=m(x1-x)

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

If you are ever unsure if it is negative or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where m=slope

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

gtg , league game started. I think @magepker728 got chu tho ;p

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

So is it like \[y -0 = -1(x -8)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeap can solve it for y now?

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

What do mean solve for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

standard form: y= mx+b

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

I'm actually writing it in Point-Slope form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

if your using point slope form, thee can be 2 answers (8,0) y - 0 = -1(x - 8) or (0,8) y - 8 = -1(x - 0) you can use either one of your set of points
