Yep.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So at first you divide the shape into two shapes to make it easier.
The top a rectangle and the botttom a triangle
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then you get the are of the rectangle
and them the triangle
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I did that... but I don't think I did it correctly...
OpenStudy (fortytherapper):
I like what you did with the rectangle, that's good. When you got to the triangle part, you missed just one step

Oh. What step did I miss ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
rectangle=90 ft^2
triangle=180 ft^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got both of those answers for the rectangle and triangle...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you forgot to subtract 6 from 24 to find the triangle and then input to formula
OpenStudy (fortytherapper):
When you did the base, you put 15 * 24, right?
That 24 was for the total length (The triangle and rectangle), you just needed the triangle

Oh.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so total=225
C)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm confused on the part with the 24 and 6....
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ou know your getting the are for only the triangle

Oh. I didn't know that...
OpenStudy (fortytherapper):
Oh for that, so you just wanted the triangle right? The 24 is both the rectangle and the triangle, as the 6 is just the rectangle
Triangle and rectangle - rectangle = triangle
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So... 24-6 ?
OpenStudy (fortytherapper):
Yep, that will get you the triangle
24-6= triangle's height
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh.

So then you use that height for the triangle, and do the same steps you showed
