Hi! I know that answer to this line i just need it explained. I will Medal and Fan thank you!! Which inequality is represented by the graph? https://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/213000_213500/213067/2/95a58aea75c4d61218e5d016c7386e3aacb0eb36/MS_ALGTests_l2_S1_05_07_Q2-O2v1Stem.gif the answer is x>-3, of course, I just need it explained! ^u^

OpenStudy (hothotleg):

@Hero

OpenStudy (crystal_bliss):

why do you need it explained the answer is -3

OpenStudy (hothotleg):

Well, I must show my 'work' to the teacher to get full credit and I've little time to do it...

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

To graph an inequality of a single variable, you place an open dot on the number if the inequality sign is \(\gt\) or \(\lt\), or a closed dot on the number if the inequality sign is \(\le\) or \(\ge\). Then you darken the right side for greater than or the left side for less than.

OpenStudy (hothotleg):

Well I know that, I need to explain how I got the answer x>-3

OpenStudy (hothotleg):

Please ^u^

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

In your case, the dot is open, so the inequality sign has to be < or >. The number with the open dot is -3. The darkened side is to the right, so it means greater than. The inequality is x > -3

Thank you so much!
