OpenStudy (landon34):

You do not need to flip the inequality sign when solving the following -5 ≤ 4r + 3. True False

pooja195 (pooja195):

What do you think and why?

OpenStudy (landon34):

I have no idea on how you do this.

pooja195 (pooja195):

Ok let's try solving it :) What do you think would be the first step? -5 ≤ 4r + 3.

OpenStudy (landon34):

would you add 4r to each side to the equation?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Hmm not quite lets subtract 3 from both sides -5-3=?

OpenStudy (landon34):

-8

pooja195 (pooja195):

Good -8 ≤ 4r whats next?

OpenStudy (landon34):

ummmmmmmm...

pooja195 (pooja195):

mmmmmm

pooja195 (pooja195):

Take a guess

OpenStudy (landon34):

do we divide something?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Yes what do we divide?

OpenStudy (landon34):

I guess it is 3.

pooja195 (pooja195):

No when we are isolating a varible we divide by the number next to it anywho when we divide by a positive we do not need to flip the sign when we divide by a negative we flip the sign :)

OpenStudy (landon34):

Ok, ill write that down

pooja195 (pooja195):

Please do ti will help in the future :-)

pooja195 (pooja195):

*it and that should've answered your question too

OpenStudy (landon34):

ok.
